Andrew Johnson

Vice President Andrew Johnson took the oath to the White House after President Lincoln's assassination. He had many disagreements with Congress once in office, and holds the record for most presidential vetoes overridden by Congress. He even tried to veto his own party’s bill. Congress eventually got tired of him and the U.S. House of Representatives votes 11 articles of impeachment against President Andrew Johnson, nine of which cite Johnson's removal of Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton, a violation of the Tenure of Office Act. The House vote made President Johnson the first president to be impeached in U.S. history.
