Let’s get this straight; Ulysses S. Grant wasn’t a bad President. He did a lot of good while in office but just hung out with the wrong crowd. He surrounded himself with some of the most corrupt men to ever sit on a cabinet. Grant's loyalty was also his downfall. While loyalty is inherently a desirable trait, it caused Grant to be reluctant to fire his cabinet members once their indiscretions became public knowledge. For this reason he was hated by the people.
